| Okay, don't get me wrong, but I do think that if we looked at its faults, we may not praise it as much as we do today.
| Quote: | | Sonic 3 (bet you didn't see that one coming, eh readers?). The only game here with a save function, so respect there. However, the game manages to completely ruin the greatness of the previous two titles by being guilty of virtually ever videogame crime there is, so respect swiftly retracted again. This is the game I was most looking forward to playing, as I missed out on it on the Megadrive/Genesis (why couldn't they give the damn console one name for the whole world to use? Sega were rubbish at console names in the first place, so why inflict one console with two terrible names? But I digress rather wildly). And this is just hideous. Enemies that pop up out of nowhere with tiresome regularity ensure that the breakneck pace to which Sonic lovers have become accustomed is replaced with players having to edge their way slowly through the levels. Bad guys that kill you even when you attack them in the same way you would any other bad guys, and enemies disguised as scenery make sure that your controller is always being hurled at the TV screen. Tails is still really dumb unless you turn him off as well. I had a smidgen of fun with this for a while, but by and large, this is a pretty bad game. If it wasn't a Sonic game everyone else would hate it as well. Individual game rating - 3/10. |

Okay, I don't agree that it was a bad game. I truly enjoyed it and it is one of my favourite games of all time, but to be honest this criticism sounds very much like that of Sonic the Hedgehog for the Xbox 360 and PS3.
And I also see where this is going. These are problems that I've noted before, but to be honest they don't really bug me. Perhaps I'd enjoy the new Sonic game too? |

| | That guy is fail. The Genesis was a great name. And the badniks weren't bad if you knew how to play. Seriously, a fail for him. |

| Genesis woulda been a good name had it been Sega's FIRST system. :P :P :P
Anyway, the Badniks really weren't a problem for me either; I'm posting this thread from the average fan's point of view. I really, really, really love Sonic 3&K to be honest.

Eh, I guess. It was cool, so I say it works. The average fan usually marks this as a good game. :| |

| | Since it was the only one on the Genesis with a save feature, it was the only one where finding all the emeralds was practical and worthwhile. Sonic and Knuckles would have one-upped it had they kept the save feature. |

| | Sonic 3 is my favourite 2D Sonic game, so i'm going to say yes it was a great game. The game had alot to offer and introduced knuckles, which really got me interested. What really did it for me though was the save feature, it made collecting the emeralds so much easier. |
